What Is Title 1?
Title 1—Part A (Improving Basic Programs Operated by Local Education Agencies).
The purpose of this federal program is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments. Title 1 provides grants to school districts which then allocate funds to individual Title 1 schools based on the number of students eligible for free and/or reduced school meals. These funds support state and local efforts to provide technical assistance (based on scientifically-based research) to school staff and improve schools identified as needing improvement based on progress.
Title 1 Program Funding Helps Schools Provide:
· Highly-qualified teachers
· A variety of teaching methods
· Additional professional development for schools staff
· Parent engagement activities

¨ Copies of the Parent Engagement Policy and the School-Parent Learning Compact
¨ An invitation to a parent-teacher conference
¨ Suggestions to help and support your child’s learning styles
¨ A program evaluation survey for input on school improvement and feedback on the school’s progress in succeeding with every child
¨ Student Progress Reports to determine your child’s strengths and areas for growth
