Nominees and the February winner of the Fred of the Month Award were recognized at the February 28th Board of Education meeting. Dr. Judy Nichols is recognized for successfully completing levels II and II of the KY School Board Association's Academy of Studies during the 2016 calendar year. Alison Bays, on the left, and Kelly Deborde, on the right, were two of the district counselors recognized at the February board meeting. Boyd County Lions win against Ashland to clinch the District Champions title. GO LIONS! Mrs. Baldwin, at center, is shown here receiving the Presidential Award at the KEDC meeting on February 15th, 2017. The January Fred of the Month Award was shared by the Coordinators and staff of the Family Resource and Youth Services Centers. Pictured, left to right are Jenny Caperton (FRC-East), Ruth Ellen Chaney (FRC-West), and Vickie Caniff (YSC at BCMS and BCHS). Superintendent Brock Walter is pictured far right. Also recognized, but not present, was FRC-East assistant Helen Bocook. Students present a play adaptation of a book they read entitled "Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain" The students learned stage directions and the difference between elements of performance and elements of production. They also sang, played Orff instruments, and composed and performed a rhythmic composition.
