Students and Parents of Boyd County Middle School,
It has been wonderful to see such community support for our middle school teachers as they prepare to move into a new building. Our staff has worked diligently to provide a great environment for learning.
In the last several days it was decided to move all 7th and 8th grade students and staff out of Boyd County Middle School. Since the beginning of the middle school renovation, we have been working with the Boyd County Health Department, as well as State inspectors, to assure the safety of both students and staff of Boyd County Middle School.
We will continue to work together with all entities to find what has possibly caused the “rash” issue of our students and staff.
To date, we do not have answers. We have tested for mold, air quality, tested materials (new and old), tested for leaks, looked into the new and the old HVAC, reviewed cleaning supplies, and we have continued to work closely with both local and state health officials and followed all suggestions. However, we have not found what might be causing the problem.
Because we do not have an answer, Boyd County Schools believes that it was in the best interest of students and staff to move from the site until completion of the renovation.
